Epic Tales is heading to the Oxford Indie Book Fair on Sunday 12 July 2026.
The fair takes place at Magdalen College School, Oxford, from 11am to 4pm. Entry is free – so if you love children’s books, independent publishing, live talks, or meeting authors face to face, you’re in for a brilliant day out.
Meet a Record Holding Storyteller
We will be there with copies of our books, including All the Better to Read You With and HIDDEN. However, the main focus of the day will be The Bestest Story in the World… Ever!, the new children’s book from Oxford Owl storyteller (and Guinness World Record-holder) Chip Colquhoun.
This fun, mischievous adventure for readers aged 9+ follows Noah, who has one week to build an app that could prove to everyone that he’s not a troublemaker and a failure. Unfortunately, a mysterious elf keeps appearing in his bedroom at night with stories that distract him.
But because this is a book written by Chip Colquhoun, you can be sure those stories matter. What’s more, they open up questions around courage, anxiety, friendship, survival, and the power of stories themselves.
Hear Chip’s Five-Minute Pitch Live!
Chip will also be taking part in the fair’s five-minute book launches at 12.30pm. This is a chance to hear a short introduction to The Bestest Story in the World… Ever! and find out why we are so excited to bring it to young readers.
You will also be able to find Chip at the Epic Tales table, number 59. He will be happy to chat about the book, school visits, reading for pleasure, and how stories can help children feel more confident as readers.
Win a free author visit for your school
We will also be talking about our pre-order campaign. Families and schools who pre-order The Bestest Story in the World… Ever! can enter for the chance to win a free author visit for a school of their choice.
That means the book is not only a new story. It is also a way to put live storytelling, creative reading, and author inspiration into more classrooms.
Why the Oxford Indie Book Fair matters
The Oxford Indie Book Fair is a strong fit for Epic Tales. It celebrates independent voices, new ideas, and direct links between readers and creators. Therefore, it is exactly the kind of place where we want this book to meet its first readers.
If you are a parent, teacher, librarian, bookseller, or young reader, we would love to see you there. Come along, say hello, and discover a story that asks…
How much adventure is too much?
