'All the Better to Read You With: Stories & Lessons to Inspire Reading for Pleasure' shortlisted for a Teach Primary Award

Some rather wonderful news: All the Better to Read You With: Stories & Lessons to Inspire Reading for Pleasure has been shortlisted for a 2026 Teach Primary Award in the English category!

The Teach Primary Awards is one of the UK’s leading awards for educational resources, recognising outstanding support for teaching and learning across KS1 and KS2. The English category covers resources designed to develop pupils’ spoken language, reading, and vocabulary.

So for a book created specifically to help educators turn reluctant readers into recreational readers, being selected as a finalist in this category means an enormous amount to us.

The educator edition of All the Better to Read You With combines engaging stories with practical advice for reading aloud. But its real power is in its structured, ready-to-use lesson plans that have been proven to help children discover that reading can be something they want to do, rather than something they are told to do.

Perhaps this is why teachers have described it as “invaluable” (Mrs Murphy from St Joseph’s Primary in Hook), “addictive” (Karen Baines from Christ Church Primary in Skipton), and “a lifesaver!” (Lesley Armstrong from Charles Kingsley’s Primary in Eversley).

The latest edition also features a foreword by Prof Teresa Cremin. And now it has been recognised by one of the UK’s most prestigious awards for educational resources.

We’ll discover later whether All the Better has gone on to win. For now, though, we’re extremely proud to see an Epic Tales title on the Teach Primary Awards 2026 English shortlist.
