Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a receipt?
A photo, screenshot, PDF, or email confirmation showing the Epic Tales book pre-ordered or purchased. It needs to show the book title, retailer, and date clearly enough for us to check the entry.
Don’t forget: if ordered through an online store (e.g. waterstones.com), you can forward your email receipt to upload@epictales.co.uk – but be sure to include the name and postcode of the school you’re supporting!
What if my confirmation includes personal information?
Which books count?
Any books published by Epic Tales, and for which you have a receipt dating no earlier than April 2026.
If you are unsure, upload the receipt and we’ll check it.
Do I need to buy from a specific bookshop?
No – you can pre-order from any reputable bookshop, whether it’s on the high street or online. If in doubt, please contact us before placing your pre-order (or as soon as possible afterwards).
What does the school receive?
A free author visit from an Epic author-storyteller, arranged directly with the school and subject to availability.
Is the visit really free?
Schools in mainland UK will receive the visit entirely free, inclusive or travel and accommodation (if required).
For visits beyond mainland UK – including Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, and countries beyond the UK – the school will be asked to cover the cost of flights and/or ferries. If this is impractical, the school will be offered an online visit instead.
Any school may receive an online visit if they prefer, or if that is the only way to ensure they can receive the prize.
Will I be added to a mailing list?
Only if you tick the separate box asking to receive Epic Tales news. If you do, we’ll send you occasional emails about new book releases, chances to meet the authors and illustrators, and competitions to win awesome prizes!
What if the upload form doesn't work?
Email your receipt, name, nominated school, and school’s postcode to upload@epictales.co.uk with the subject line ‘Upload for {school you’re supporting}’
