Happily Ever Teaching

The warmest of greetings to you! Join us as we explore the best teaching method known to science: storytelling.

Did you know that, in 2014, EU Lifelong Learning proved children remember far more from storytelling than any other teaching method?

We are here to show teachers how they can engage their students through storytelling, so their children have more success in English, Maths, Science, and more.

Hosted by storyteller Chip Colquhoun, author of the EU’s guidance on using stories in the classroom, this podcast takes the weekly story in our sister podcast, Fables & Fairy Tales, and discusses it with educators to help you teach through story. Teaching isn’t just about worksheets – every good teacher knows it requires a dash of wonder, a sprinkling of innovation, and a heap of heart.

We look forward to sharing stories with you!

Find us on Facebook and Twitter using @TeachHappily, and you and your classes can take part in fun challenges to boost their learning whilst also winning prizes! Plus let us know what topics you need us to cover...

Grow your expertise in the best teaching method known to science: storytelling

We know your frustration: some teaching methods work brilliantly for a time, but after a while your children lose interest. The struggling are left to struggle on, or else the gifted don't feel challenged enough.

And even that's only after you've calmed them down first, which is increasingly tough in these anxious times.

Why not use a teaching method that never grows old, and naturally differentiates? One that challenges each of your young learners at the perfect level for them, while encouraging and motivating them at the same time?

We offer you support with a pedagogy that does exactly that. And on top of everything else, it's fun – your young learners will love returning to class.

These are just some of the benefits reported from the hundreds of schools and educators we've worked with since 2007. It's no wonder the Oxford Reading Tree turned to us to produce their Traditional Tales videos for their Oxford Owl website (seen our Big Carrot or our East of the Sun?).

Plus, in 2013, we were commissioned by EU Lifelong Learning to write the EU's guidance on using storytelling in the classroom.

That's why we're passionately keen to support you in your role as an Epic Educator. With full access to our growing archive of stories from around the world, you'll also find expert teachers and storytellers providing off-the-shelf lesson ideas and resource guides.

We'll help you tell the stories too, with specific storytelling tips for each story, and a variety of methods for sharing them with your young learners – including the ability to share each story's video for them to watch for free as homework.

Teachers regularly say our storytelling techniques capture the imagination of all ages from 4 to 11, making them perfect for any class, and even whole school assemblies.

There's even an Epic Challenge with every story to spark the creativity of your learners – and if you send their creations to us, they could receive a personal message from an Epic storyteller! How's that for a confidence boost?

Help your children become amazing and successful human beings – join us as an Epic Educator!

Take the learning of your entire class to Epic heights!

As you use more storytelling in your classroom, you'll find your children naturally wanting to read more. One parent told us that, after just one Epic performance, her 7-year-old son put on his reading glasses by his own personal choice for the first time ever in order to find more stories the following day.

At Epic, we make that easy for you. By signing up as an Epic Class, you receive all the benefits of an Epic Educator, plus 20 paperbacks every single month containing the latest Fables & Fairy Tales for your children to read and share together.

We also guarantee personal responses from our storytellers to every Epic Challenge your class attempts and shares with us, furthering their enthusiasm for storytelling and learning combined.

And on top of it all, your school will have special reduced prices for bringing our storytellers to your classrooms live, either online or with visits to your school.

Epic Class packages are a standard part of our training for schools. To sign up a single Epic Class, click the button here – but for special prices for multiple classes, or to discuss our training, click here to contact us.
